The Warsaw Genomics Academy was created out of the desire to share knowledge in the field of genetics and the possibility of its use by doctors of other specialties. The aim of the Academy is to raise the awareness of doctors about the possibilities offered by genetics in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Welcome to the Warsaw Genomics Academy
Together with the invited specialists, we discuss topics related to the treatment of patients and molecular diagnostics.
During free webinars of the Warsaw Genomics Academy, we discuss the latest knowledge about the directions and methods of genetic diagnostics and its practical application in many therapeutic areas, including in oncology, in rare diseases, in cardiology, diabetology, and others.
The first edition of the webinars focused on oncological diseases. The topics we covered included: the use of HRD diagnostics in the treatment of patients with breast and ovarian cancer, molecular indicators of the effectiveness of immunotherapy or monitoring of residual disease.
Anna Wójcicka, co-founder of Warsaw Genomics, together with outstanding guests invite you to participate in the webinars of the next edition of the Academy.
Why is it worth participating in the Warsaw Genomics Academy?
- Outstanding experts
- Important topics in the field of oncology
- 5 meetings scheduled in the afternoon
- Possibility to ask questions and share experiences
Upcoming events
More information about the second edition of the Academy is coming soon.
Completed events
Webinar 1: Oncofertility - preservation of fertility in cancer patients and women at high risk of developing cancer
The webinar took place on June 23, 2022.
Speakers:
dr Joanna Kufel-Grabowska, Klinika Onkologii, Szpital Kliniczny im. Heliodora Święcickiego UM w Poznaniu,
prof Robert Spaczyński, Konsultant Krajowy w dziedzinie endokrynologii ginekologicznej i medycyny rozrodu.
The meeting was moderated by dr Anna Wójcicka, co-founder of Warsaw Genomics
Partners:
- Polskie Towarzystwo do Badań nad Rakiem Piersi
- Polska Liga Walki z Rakiem
Topics:
We discussed the extremely important and still rarely discussed topic of securing fertility in cancer patients and women at high risk of developing cancer, such as carriers of mutations in BRCA genes. We presented the possibilities of helping our patients to fulfill their dreams of starting a family. We also discussed the ways of securing fertility during oncological treatment.
Webinar 2: When is cancer written in the genes? – How knowing about hereditary risk helps us better care for the patient and his family
The webinar took place on September 15, 2022.
Speakers:
Anna Doraczyńska-Kowalik, MD, specialist in clinical genetics,
The meeting was moderated by dr Anna Wójcicka, co-founder of Warsaw Genomics.
Topics:
We discussed the differences between tests aimed at assessing hereditary changes and those performed to implement targeted therapies. We discussed the management of suspected hereditary diseases in oncological patients and in healthy persons. We presented the basic types of genetic tests used in oncology.
Webinar 3: Homologous recombination gene disorder (HRD) - a new direction in the treatment of ovarian cancer.
The webinar took place on February 27, 2023.
Speakers:
dr Monika Kolanowska, laboratory diagnostician, head of the Warsaw Genomics diagnostic team,
dr hab. n. med. Anna Wójcicka, co-founder of Warsaw Genomics.
Topics:
The future of cancer treatment is targeted therapies, and their inseparable link is the study of the molecular basis of the disease. During the event, we discussed what HRD is, what are the benefits of HRD analysis and when should it be performed. Based on the latest scientific reports and the perspectives offered by the HRD test, we answered the question of what to pay attention to when analyzing the test result.
Webinar 4: Pregnancy after cancer treatment
The webinar took place on April 3, 2023.
Speakers:
dr Joanna Kufel-Grabowska, Katedra i Klinika Onkologii i Radioterapii Gdański Uniwersytet Medyczny, Chairwoman of the PTO section "Oncofertility - Płodność w Chorobie Nowotworowej"
dr Magdalena Bizoń, LUX MED Onkologia, Szpital Onkologiczny przy ul. św. Wincentego, Warsaw
The meeting was moderated by dr Anna Wójcicka, co-founder of Warsaw Genomics.
Topics:
The fourth meeting of the Warsaw Genomics Academy was a continuation of the inaugural topic "Oncofertility". Based on the latest guidelines and oncological and gynecological practice, the experts discussed issues related to methods of contraception in oncological patients as well as the possibilities and dates of pregnancy planning after various oncological treatment regimens. They also shared their experiences in managing pregnancy in patients after oncological treatment, specifying specific types of cancer.
Webinar 5: Residual disease monitoring in the treatment of patients with solid tumors
The webinar took place on April 24, 2023.
Speakers:
Michael Krainock, MD, PhD, Associate Medical Director, Medical Affairs – Oncology, Natera, Inc.
dr hab. n. med. Anna Wójcicka, co-founder of Warsaw Genomics
Topics:
The use of molecular diagnostics goes beyond the selection of targeted therapies. On the example of the Signatera assay, we discussed the use of precise molecular diagnostics in assessing the effectiveness of radical treatment and monitoring the effectiveness of immunotherapy. The meeting was held in English.
