About this test
The CYP21A2 gene encodes 21-hydroxylase, an enzyme essential for the synthesis of cortisol and aldosterone. Its deficiency is the most common cause of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (autosomal recessive inheritance).
In this test we use MLPA technology to examine the CYP21A2 gene for large deletions/duplications. The test is performed as a complement to NGS analysis.
