About this test
The BRCA2 gene is involved in the repair of DNA damage through homologous recombination. Inherited pathogenic variants of this gene increase the risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer, as well as prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer and male breast cancer (autosomal dominant inheritance).
Some changes in the BRCA2 gene are large deletions or duplications spanning whole exons, which are not detected by standard NGS sequencing. In this test we use MLPA technology to examine the BRCA2 gene for such large deletions and duplications — as a complement to NGS analysis.
