About this test
Accumulation of DNA mutations occurs prior to the transformation from a normal cell into a cancerous cell. These genetic changes can determine the management of the disease.
In this test, using genome sequencing, whole coding sequences of the KRAS and NRAS genes are analyzed. Both somatic and germinal variants can be found in this test, but it doesn’t differentiate one from another. The result may be especially valuable for determining the most suitable management of colon cancer.
It’s important to remember that qualification for any therapy depends on the clinical settings and decision of the attending physician.
To perform the test we need paraffine block with the cancer tissue and pathology slides made of this block.
