Homologous Recombination Deficiency

HRD testing is used in qualification for treatment with PARP inhibitors.

Above all, thanks to a new drug programme, the test opens up the possibility of reimbursed treatment for patients with ovarian, fallopian tube or peritoneal cancer. The therapy can be used in patients with advanced ovarian cancer who have mutations in the BRCA1/2 genes or a confirmed homologous recombination deficiency (HRD).

The test makes it possible to obtain an unambiguous result of the HRD status analysis (HRD score) together with a medical interpretation allowing assessment of the eligibility for olaparib. We also provide information on the status of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. 

In a unique approach, as a supplement to the HRD analysis we issue additional information on clinically relevant genetic changes found in the tumour tissue (analysis of 523 genes), as well as on the presence of microsatellite instability and the level of tumour mutational burden (TMB). This approach allows a more complete and reliable decision to be made regarding further treatment.

To perform the test we need a fragment of tumour tissue (a paraffin block) and the histopathological preparations (slides) made from it, as well as a copy of the histopathological diagnosis.
